Summer Camps

It's summer! Come step into my outdoor classroom as we contemplate what it is like to be a doctor, veterinarian, marine biologist, and artist! Come prepared to explore, investigate, and tap into your unlimited creativity. 

 

These camps have been specially designed for lower elementary and preschool students. Camps run Monday-Friday from 8 am to 12 pm at our location in Clayton.

 

All camps are $350/week and are led by Voyager teachers.

Mini Med School 

June 12-16

Designed for future doctors, biologists and enthusiastic learners, this camp will leave students excited for residency. Set up like med school with classroom time and clinical rotations, students will step into what it's like to be a doctor. 

 

Monday-  

Skeletal System & Muscular System: 

Special look at REAL bones and connective tissue! 

Clinicals: x-rays!

Tuesday-

Cardiovascular system and blood: Make different types of blood cells and uncover the magic inside you

Clinicals: blood pressure

​

Wednesday- Respiratory System

The respiratory system has a really important function in our bodies, contemplate how our lungs work 

Clinicals: Stethoscopes! 

​

Thursday- Nervous System and THE BRAIN

Oh brains! Zombies love them and I do too, though not for the same reasons. Come learn about what makes you- you!

Clinicals: Brain games! Can you teach your brain new tricks?

​

Friday- Digestive System

Take a walk through the digestive system to contemplate how the food we eat turns into, well... poop.

Veterinary School

June 19-23

Vision

Designed for animal enthusiasts and future veterinarians, this camp will be a roaring good time as we discover animals inside and out.

 

Monday-  Pet Vet 

Thinking about all of the ways our pets communicate with us from sounds to body language and contemplating how we can design the best home for our pet.

Tuesday- Zoo Vet

Investigating what it would be like to be a vet at a zoo, from making rounds to busting boredom and how to tell one animal from another.

​

Wednesday- Avian & Amphibian Vet

There are so many different types of birds and amphibians! Today, we'll look at life cycles and contemplate how we can best support the wildlife right in our backyards.

​

Thursday- Farm Vet

There is a lot to contemplate on the farm, from treating injuries to giving medicine, babies being born and disease control. They'll work on helping establish a game plan for our new ranch life! 

​

Friday- Veterinary Clinic

After taking a walk through a number of different types of veterinarians, they will have a chance to open their own veterinary clinic where patients come with all sorts of different problems. They'll look at x-rays, chart their patients and find solutions.

July 10-14

Have a child that is enchanted with water? Join me as we uncover the mysterious and amazing world living not so far away. 

 

Monday-  Fish

From the stunning lionfish to the misunderstood shark, we'll uncover mysteries of how these creatures can breathe underwater while we, simply cannot and other fascinating components about fish!

Tuesday- Sea Jellies, Sea Turtles and Sea Stars

Learning about these amazing creatures today! Contemplating what makes them unique and how each of their bodies gives them the ability to survive in very different situations. 

​

Wednesday- Whales

One of the most revered ocean animals meet us for our third day of camp to teach us incredible lessons. We'll take a look at a whale's vertebrae, contemplate their incredible size and what makes each whale different from the next.

​

Thursday- Water Chemistry 

Water has some amazing properties! Today, we will be working on better understanding them as we make water travel and refract light. We'll discover buoyancy, contemplate objects that sink or float and learn what elements create water.

Come prepared with clothes/shoes that can get wet.*

​

Friday- Choose to Act Green! 

We will look at the real problem of pollution and how it impacts our waterways. Students will be invited to participate in various projects that help to formulate solutions.

Art School

July 17-21

Explore the world of art with projects that help you to deepen your understanding of how to utilize structured and unstructured materials. 

 

Monday-  Watercolor and Acrylic

It'll likely get very messy on this day as we play with paint in extraordinary ways challenging our perception on what makes art.

Tuesday- Sculpture

From playdoh to clay and ivory soap, we'll be contemplating some of the most influential sculptors and their processes for making something spectacular. 

​

Wednesday- Charcoal and Pastels 

These two mediums can be tricky to navigate, but they make for some remarkable art. Using the idea of a "beautiful oops" to guide us through the process, we'll learn how to navigate challenges 

​

Thursday- Marker, Crayon and Paper

Working with mixed media today to create art projects that are anything but ordinary. 

​

Friday- Creativity takes Courage

After exploring so many different artists and mediums, we are going to use this day to explore who we are as artists by creating and presenting a special piece.
